How Does Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs Work?
What is Acupuncture? (video)
Acupuncture is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flow of Qi through the channels or meridians. Acupuncture regulates this flow of Qi, redirecting it to those areas that are deficient and draining it from where it is excess, thus regulating and restoring the harmonious, energetic balance of the body.
How Does Chinese Herbs Work?
Herbal Medicine is a powerful method of healing. Unlike Western drugs, which treat the symptom only, Chinese herbs also treat the underlying chronic condition that causes disease. (For example antibiotics eliminate bacteria but do not improve a person's resistance to infection.) Herbs are more like foods than drugs, supplementing out constitution. Herbs are rarely given individually but are put into a 'balanced formula' thereby eliminating unwanted side effects. Herbal formulas come in teas, concentrated powders, pills and liquid extracts.
